Peter Wilson has advised high school students for over 30 years in all aspects of the college admissions and post-graduation process.

For 25 years, Peter directed the College and Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) programs at the prestigious middle school and high school, The Baccalaureate School for Global Education (BSGE), the first public all-International Baccalaureate School in New York City. As a founding member of the BSGE staff and the sole college advisor, Peter created and developed the college and IB CAS curriculums at BSGE from the ground up, successfully guiding and assisting well over 1,000 young people in their college journey to top colleges, universities, and post-secondary programs. In his final two years at BSGE, he helped graduating seniors earn nearly $70 million dollars in offered merit-based scholarships as well as assisted dozens of graduating seniors gain admissions to honors programs at esteemed institutions.

Spurred by a desire to offer youth from low income and working class households free, top quality college preparation services, Peter also founded and directed the highly successful, award winning College Readiness Program at Sunnyside Community Services (SCS). For over 17 years at SCS, he assisted over 7,000 young people from Queens public high schools gain entry into competitive colleges and universities as well as earn millions of dollars in scholarships. Because of his distinguished work with the College Readiness Program, he was named NY1’s New Yorker of the Week in November 2018.

Peter earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia University in Pan African Studies with a concentration in history and social anthropology. A member of the National Association of College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), his initiatives and efforts have been recognized by Harvard University’s Family Research Project and New England Counselors of Color Bridging Access to College (NECBAC).

Throughout his time as an advisor, counselor, advocate, and director of programs, Peter has developed successful partnerships with higher educational institutions and community-based organizations, creating a vast educational network of resources. Devoted to human rights education and social activism, he has developed curriculum and facilitated human rights workshops and initiatives for young people throughout the United States, Denmark, Jamaica, and England. Peter is also a seasoned professional musician and recording artist on the German-based label, Dr. Music Records, with the NYC-based hard rock band, Four Trips Ahead. His first solo album, “Freedom’s Door,” was released this past year to rave reviews and top ten, indie chart placement. He is a proud husband and father, dedicated to ensuring that all young people are offered the opportunity to earn a college degree and to achieve their full potential.
